He graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of São Paulo (1984) and received his Doctor of Science (Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery) from the University of São Paulo (1997).
He is currently an Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of São Paulo School of Medicine and Director of the Pediatric Cardiology Surgical Unit at the Heart Institute (InCor) of the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP.
