The program benefits from the infrastructure of the Heart Institute (InCor), the Thoracic Surgery Service of the Hospital das Clínicas, and the Medical Research Laboratories in Thoracic Surgery (LIM-61) and Cardiovascular Surgery and Circulation Pathophysiology (LIM-11) of the University of São Paulo School of Medicine. This structure includes laboratories for animal experimentation, laboratory research (coagulation, lipids, drug dosage, etc.), bioengineering, computer science, molecular biology, exercise, ergospirometry, immunology, hemodynamics, electrophysiology, imaging (e.g., radioisotopes, tomography, X-rays, magnetic resonance imaging), respiratory function testing, vascular biology, and pathological anatomy, with infrastructure comparable to the best laboratories in developed countries. Furthermore, the Heart Institute has specialized teams in all sub-branches of Adult Cardiology, Congenital Heart Disease, Cardiac Surgery and Pulmonology.
