He holds a degree in Medicine from the Marília School of Medicine (1977) and a PhD in Medicine (Clinical Surgery) from the University of São Paulo (1992). He is currently an attending physician in the Thoracic Surgery Department at the Heart Institute (InCor) – Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo School of Medicine. He works in General Thoracic Surgery and has a special interest in tracheal conditions, respiratory endoscopy, mediastinal staging in lung cancer, and diaphragmatic conditions.
