Omar Asdrubal Vilca Mejia

He graduated in Medicine from the National University of Cajamarca School of Medicine. He completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of São Francisco. He specialized in Cardiovascular Surgery and Thoracic Aortic Surgery at the University of São Paulo. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of São Paulo School of Medicine. He is a former student of Harvard Medical School.

He is currently a Teaching Associate Professor at the University of São Paulo School of Medicine, a tenured professor of Cardiovascular Surgery. He is a full member of the Brazilian College of Surgeons and a full member of the Brazilian Society of Cardiovascular Surgery. He is Director of the São Paulo Registry of Cardiovascular Surgery (REPLICCAR). He is a reviewer for the Brazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, the European Heart Journal, Frontiers, Scientific Reports – Nature Portfolio, and JACC.

Assistant Surgeon of the Coronary Artery Disease Surgical Unit and Coordinator of the Surgical Quality and Safety Unit at InCor/HCFMUSP.

He has experience in surgery, with an emphasis on cardiovascular surgeries, focusing on reducing perioperative risks and optimizing the team in an efficient, safe, and patient-centered manner.
