Objetivos: 
A proposta da engenharia de tecidos é utilizar células-tronco, biomateriais e biomoléculas para recriar, em laboratório, tecidos afetados por diversas patologias. Esta linha de pesquisa inclui projetos relacionados a medicina regenerativa e ao desenvolvimento de próteses para o sistema cardiovascular e respiratório por meio de matrizes biológicas e sintéticas e por Bioimpressão 3-D. Esta linha está sendo desenvolvida em colaboração internacional com o grupo “Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine” (CAVAREM) e com o “Department of Pathology and Medical Biology" da Universidade de Groningen, na Holanda.
